Introducing Cristian Preda

Mihai Cristian Preda is a Romanian soloist ballet dancer born in 1992. He graduated from Bucharest „Floria Capsali” High School in 2011 after completing the 2010 Balanchine scholarship in Washington DC (SUA), where he was working with Suzanne Farrell.

Preda has worked with the Sarajevo National Theatre, Split National Theatre and Bucharest National Theatre, where has performed as soloist for many years now. He performed as a soloist on tours with Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatre including the Andrey Batalov St. Petersburg Ballet and for two years he was a freelancer, performing in numerous international ballet galas.

Mihai s work includes performances choreographed by Kennet MacMillan, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Vasily Medvedev, Jaroslav Slavicky, Marius Petipa, Frederick Ashton, Renato Zanella, Ethan Stiefel, Edward Clug, Johan Kobborg and many others.

Throughout his career he has performed as a principal dancer also and many soloist roles of the international ballet repertoire including:
Basil in „Don Quijxote”, Ali in „Le Corsaire”, Lescaut in „Manon”, Maurice in „In the Middle Somewhat Elevated” , Jester in „Swan Lake”, Golden Idol in „La Bayadere”, Peasant Pas de Deux in „Giselle”, Mercutio in „Radio and Juliet”, Gurn in „La Sylphide”, Alain in „La fille mal gardée, Trio in „DSCH”, Puck in „The Dream”, 2 couples in „Classical Symphony”, Les Lutins, Les Bourgeois and many others. Not to mention the renowned performance in Alina Cojocaru s Dream Project Tokyo 2014 .

Some of Mihai’s many achievements include receiving the 1st place at Cosenza International Dance Competition 2011(Italy) , Bronze Medal at Istanbul International Ballet Competition 3rd 2012 (Turkey), Gold Medal and Excellence Award at World Ballet Competition Sibiu, Romania 2015.

You may not know:
Cristian is passionate about football and his favorite club is FC Barcelona but also the city of Barcelona, where he would love to live in future. He is a wine lover and another passion is cooking. He likes pasta with sea food and Mexican or Asian cuisine.
