Introducing Jessica Arechavaleta
Jessica Mariam Arechavaleta Rodríguez was born in Santiago de Cuba in April 1996. She entered the world of dance at the age of 5 in Rhythmic Gymnastics obtaining prizes in national competitions.
At the age of 9, after seeing the National Ballet of Cuba performing, she decided to be part of the ballet world and began her training at the José María Heredia Ballet School, where she studied for five years. She continued her studies at the Vicentina de la Torre school in Camagüey and then at the Fernando Alonso National Ballet School in Havana, where she was training with many teachers, like Ramona de Saa.
At the end of her studies in 2014, and after graduating as a professional dancer, she joined the National Ballet of Cuba for 5 years, where she danced as corps de ballet in the great classical ballets („Swan Lake”, „Giselle”, „Don Quijote”, „The Nutcracker”, „Coppelia”, „Sleeping Beauty”), and also she had the opportunity to dance soloist roles in some ballets, such as „Paquita”, „La Fille du Danube” and in several contemporary and neoclassical ballets such as „Estudio para 4” and „Didenoi”. She also represented this company in countries such as Puerto Rico, Mexico, The United States, Spain, Italy, France and China.
She studied Dance Arts Career at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Cuba.
Jessica joined the Sibiu Ballet Theater in 2019. Here, she is part of corps de ballet in different pieces but she also had the opportunity to perform solist roles like: „Four brides”, in „Swan Lake”, the doll in „The Nutcracker”, „Lacrimosa pas de deux” in „Barococo Party” (by Sergiu Angel), „Autumn pas de deux” in „Anotimpurile” (by Aleisha Gardner), „Chaplin pas de deux” in „Straussiana” (by Mihai Babușka) and others. Jessica also danced „Coppelia pas de deux” in ballet galas.
