Introducing Razvan Iacob

Born in Roman, Romania, Răzvan began to dance at the age of 7, when his teacher saw his natural ability and lines and encouraged his parents to take him to Iași to join Colegiul Național de Artă „Octav Băncilă”.

Răzvan then moved to Spain and continued his professional training at the Professional Conservatory of Valencia and then Instituto Superior de danza Alicia Alonso and danced with the company Ballet de Camara de Madrid, after which he joined Sibiu Ballet Thetare where he danced numerous soloist roles.

He won of the 1st Prize in the Regional Ballet Competition in Iași, Romania, the National Dance Competition of Castellon, Spain and he was three times winner of the National Classical Dance Competition in Madrid, Spain.

Career highlights include Albrecht in „Giselle”, Escamillo in Suite from „Carmen”, pas de trois in „Paquita”, pas de trois in „Swan Lake”, Prince in „The Nutcracker”, Chaplin pas de deux in „Straussiana”, Levin in „Anna Karenina”, „Cinderella” pas de deux by Mihai Babușka. Răzvan has been invited as a guest artist at Opera Brașov, Romania, Ballet Lupe (Benicarlo), Centro de Danca do Porto and at Gala Joven de Bailado en Oporto, and to Salzburg to perform with the United Dance Company „Colors of Dance” tour in Germany and Austria.

You may not know:
Răzvan likes to spend time with his wife, who is also a dancer at Sibiu Ballet Theatre, watching series and movies on Netflix, playing video games and cooking. He was one of the models for a ballet book called „Apreciacion y practica en torno a la escuela cubada de ballet” by Maria Cristina Alvarez.
He speaks Romanian, Spanish, English and Portuguese. Razvan also taught himself how to sew and has made various costumes for some of the choreographies at Sibiu Ballet Theatre. He is the substitute ballet teacher at the same company.
